Best Play in Palm Springs

ELECTRICITY is a very funny, sexy and surprisingly emotional journey through the changes that occurred in the LGBTQ community between 1983 and 2013.

It navigates a world where gay life was hidden in bars and sex clubs to one where equality might just be a reality–if Gary and Brad can only believe that they deserve it.

You don’t want to miss this electric event taking place

           at INNdulge Palm Springs.

1 show per night with limited seating.

“The hottest play in Palm Springs…
A must-see”
–Diane Anderson-Minshall, THE ADVOCATE

“ELECTRICITY is shockingly good…
The show is expertly executed…
Witty, bitchy, at times gritty and moving, the show hits all the right notes, delivering the perfect combination of sweet, sexy, uproarious, and at times, sad.  But like any memorable love story, it all ends up going right to the heart.”

–Winston Gieseke, PALM SPRINGS LIFE

“A rich character-driven delight…
Playful and poignant, the “Electricity” has a charge that extends not just between the characters but well into the audience.”

–Margaret Quamme, THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Greg Louganis in Palm Springs for Film Fest

greg-louganis--palm-springs

For nearly three years, Olympic diving champion Greg Louganis opened his home and memory bank to documentarians interested in introducing a new generation of sports and movie fans to his story.

That investment of time and energy paid off with “Back on Board: Greg Louganis,” which was  screened  this week as one of the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Gay!La events.

Louganis and his husband, Johnny Chaillot-Louganis,  attended the gala screening.

Greg said, “Back in December 2010, I was kind of talking about how I was coming back into the sport of diving. And so Will Sweeney, one of the producers, read the article and said, “Oh my God, Greg Louganis, I never knew he left diving, so there must be a story behind it.” He reached out to Cheryl Furjanic, who produced “Sync or Swim,” another Olympic story. They were friends. Knowing she had worked with the Olympics, the ins and out of getting access and all that, she reached out to me.

Spencer Day Comes to Purple Room

spencer-day-gay-jazz-singer

Acclaimed pop/jazz singer/songwriter Spencer Day will be performing at The Purple Room in Palm Springs on December 8, 2014 in support of his recently released full-length album Daybreak.
Dinner & Show tickets!
Acclaimed singer/songwriter Spencer Day returns to his musical roots with his fifth full-length album Daybreak, and his first independent album in seven years. His past two albums were released on the legendary Concord/Jazz label. With Daybreak, Spencer has created an album of signature interpretations of well-loved songs from the 1960’s along with five brand-new compositions written in homage of these classic American tunes.

There was a time, a sound, a feel, and a sensibility that defined the California mid-century experience. Spencer calls Daybreak his “top-down Chevy convertible on the Pacific Coast Highway” album, evoking the breezy feel of a sunny Southern California afternoon. Classics including Groovin, A World Without Love, and Never My Love have been re-imagined and interpreted in Spencer’s trademark honey baritone voice.

Spencer Day is widely regarded for his original songs that blend compelling melodies, smart lyrics and lush arrangements. For Daybreak, Spencer has crafted five new works that blend seamlessly with the cover tunes to create a moving tribute to that special time and place that gave rise to so many musical gems. Audiences around the world have enthusiastically supported Spencer for over ten years at venues as diverse as Birdland in New York, the Hollywood Bowl, Jazz Alley in Seattle, the Pacific Rim Jazz Festival in Manila, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Feinstein’s in San Francisco, Tanglewood, the Craig Ferguson Show and at music venues and festivals across the U.S. and worldwide. Spencer has a widely diverse and enthusiastic fan base in the U.S., Asia, Latin America and Europe.

Missing Tonight is the first single from Daybreak to be released to radio, and it reflects Spencer’s roots in the Great American Songbook, with a contemporary, upbeat twist that has become Spencer’s signature sound. Written with legendary composers Bill DeMain and Larry Goldings, Missing, with its jazzy feel and persuasive lyrics, evokes the excitement of a new relationship and the universal allure of limitless possibilities.

The album’s first single Missing Tonight debuted tied for # 3 most added on Billboard Magazine’s Smooth Jazz chart the week of its release.

Visit Spencer Day’s Website or Social Media pages for more information about this release and future tour dates. www.spencerday.com
